2017-2018_Bega Seasonal_Outlook (Seasonal)

During the preceding Kiremt season, the first two months (June and July) experienced a significant decrease in the spatial and temporal distribution of the rain which as result exacerbated the agricultural activity especially across North and Northeastern parts of the country. However, in the remaining two months (August and September) an enhanced rainfall activity over much of the seasonal rain benefiting areas of the country entailed an improved condition for the agricultural activity, for water reservoirs and other socio-economic activities.

In general, the upcoming Bega season is anticipated to be more of normal to below normal rainfall activity across Central, Northeastern, Eastern and Northern Ethiopia. Whereas,Western and Southwestern are likely to be dominated by above normal rainfall activity. Furthermore, the southern extreme of Oromiya and the southern half of Somali will have Normal to below normal rain.
